Sona Paper had launched "Natural Evolution" - a premium super fine paper

Sona Papers has tied up with GruppoCordenons, SpA, Italy to distribute its premium super fine paper "Natural Evolution" in India. It will be the sole distributor in India. Currently, the superfine paper is the most prestigious and is associated with luxury brands like DOLCE & GABBANA, CARTIER, LOUIS VUITTON, HERMES, SALVATORE FERRAGAMO etc., In India, prestigious works are done on this paper which include - Kingfisher’s Annual Calendar, Mercedes Corporate Brochure, Save the Tigers Campaign Calendar, ICC Word Cup Brochure, M F Hussain Coffee Table book to name a few. Natural Evolution is ideal for Greeting cards, Invitations, Catalogues, Calendars, Covers, Editions, Trade collaterals, Packaging, Annual reports, Monographs, Display boxes and others. The new Natural Evolution is now available in India in wider variety and with enhanced coating, which is a result of years of innovation and R & D by Cordenons.

ITC to promote bio plastic materials in packaging

ITC, Northern Technologies International Corp and Harita NTI have signed up an MoU to develop biopolymer products for mass consumer market. The venture will develop sustainable bio based and certified bio plastic materials which can be used as packaging materials.

Hyderabad to host Papertech 2009 Expo

India can become a world leader in paper sector, the pulp and paper industry in the country holds huge potential given the lower consumption and production costs,” Mr Busi Sam Bob, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Andhra Pradesh Government, said. At the inaugural session of PaperTech -2009 held at CII- Godrej Green Business Centre here, he said good infrastructure and support by the Government and best practices implemented by industry players made the State a leader in paper industry. ‘National & International Best Practices Manual - Pulp & Paper Industry’, a compilation of best practices of the pulp &paper sector was released at the session. Andhra Pradesh would soon become the ‘Pulpwood bowl of India’ and green cover is increasing rapidly, said Mr Pradeep Dhobale, Chairman, Energy Efficiency Council, CII - Godrej GBC. He appealed to paper mills to invest in measures that would bring down the energy consumption considerably. The Expo will help to bring participants with latest trends and technology and best practices.

New Technology to improve shelf-life of paper


 
Paper Research Institute and Lucknow University has identified the gene, which makes the paper yellow after a period of time. The ligin content in paper is the cause and current attempts to reduce it has been futile. Now, an antidote has been discovered, which will be useful to improve shelf life. Generated paper waster is also hazardous and currently 15% of paper goes waste. The new technology will also result in faster bamboo harvest and provide better quality.
