Paper Industry may also get Technology Upgradation Funds Scheme (TUFS) on the lines of textile industry. This will help 700-800 paper mills to upgrade technology and thereby improve the quality of the products. The industry is also lobbying for access to degraded lands in the radius of 150 kms around the paper mills. Govt. has agreed to this move ‘in principle’ and a formal announcement is likely after elections
